“The Virgin and the Child blessing” is an oil painting on canvas by Giovanni Bellini in 1510. When he painted it he was one of the most prestigious artists of the Venetian Renaissance. The characters are Virgin and the Child who is standing on her knees in act of blessing the viewer. The landscape is rich in details. Actually there is the representation of farming, small animals, human figures and mountain. The trees represent the Christ passion. The landscape is given unity by the golden light harmoning the holy group.

The body of Jesus Christ is supported by the Virgin on the left and by Saint John on the right and it seems that the body of Jesus isn’t heavy.
In the front, there is a marble slab where the artist signed his name.
The lines and the graphisms are elements that were usually used by Mantegna who was his brother-in-law.
The colours give an effect of natural light. Bellini represents the atmosphere as a cold down.

In fronte vi è una lastra di marmo dove il pittore dipinge la sua firma.
Le linee di contorno e i grafismi sono elementi che erano usati da Mantegna che era suo cognato.
I colori danno un effetto di luce naturale infatti Bellini rappresenta l’atmosfera come un’alba fredda.
